Being a supposed Off-Road vehicle, and by many at the best Overlanding vehicle, it is sad that the Chevy is not standing behind their product as they should. Again, you can do a simple google search and you will find that many Colorado drivers are having issues with their CV Boots tearing and clamps slipping resulting in grease that needs to stay within the boot being flung out.
This has happened to some as early as on their first drive home after purchasing the vehicle, others a little later, and some not at all. I took delivery of the truck and drove it eight miles home to find the both inner fenders had grease all over the place.
Both axle shafts had one or both CV boots leaking grease. I inspected to boots one was torn the other had an improperly installed boot clamp. In some threads, there are mentions that GM acknowledges the weakness and has since improved the CV axle, not sure if this is truebut people are still being turned away from replacement under warranty if they have done anything to adjust the suspension of their vehicle.
Chevy, knowing that they have an issue, are using any suspension mods to avoid having to replace something that they know is an issue. It is sad to see a company like General Motors, hideaway from their responsibilities to their customers who are paying their hard-earned cash every month to be in what is supposed to be one of the best off-road vehicles we can currently purchase.
I still love my ZR2, when I park it and walk away, I always look back, lmao. In the research, throughout the country, you get conflicting stories, so I am not going to blame one or the other, I am going to blame both for being un-American corporate fuck ups! This is America, we drive lifted trucks, hell Schumacher, you sell them on your lot, lifted and ready to go, aftermarket suspension and add ons because you know that is what the client wants.
Hi JR, To date, I, unfortunately, have nothing to report back on a remedy for the situation. I think that there is still a flaw in the Chevy CV Axle that many people seem to have issues with.
My situation has improved in that my dealer has finally decided to warranty the situation and will be replacing my CV Axle this week. The ZR2 package took Chevy's long-running compact SUV and transformed it into an exciting and genuinely capable off-road machine. Although it disappeared along with the rest of the second-generation Blazer line following the model year, the ZR2 Blazer remains an enduring favorite of many off-road SUV enthusiasts.
The Blazer was available exclusively as a two-door. While GM continued to produce the larger four-door bodystyle throughit was available only to government and fleet buyers.

If a CV joint or axle shaft is damaged in any way that affects its balance while rotating, it will cause the shaft to vibrate excessively while operating the vehicle.
The vibrations may oscillate, or become more pronounced as vehicle speed increases. Excessive vibration from failing CV shafts can interfere with handling and ride characteristics, and the overall safety and comfort of the vehicle.
Usually, the CV axle will need to be replaced if it is damaged enough to cause vibrations. CV axles serve as the final link between the engine and the wheels. If you suspect that one or more of your CV axle shafts may be having a problem, contact a technician to inspect the vehicle.
